Sarah McCartt-Jackson will lead a six-week poetry workshop at 21c Museum Hotel in Louisville. Hosted by Louisville Literary Arts, “Prosetry: Poetry Meets Prose” will take place March 4 – April 15 on Sundays from 1:00-3:00 pm (no class on Easter Sunday).
Participants will examine how prose and poetry interact by reading essays by renowned poets and generating hybrid works of poetry and prose, all while drawing inspiration from 21c art galleries. Craft essays and poetry by writers such as Mary Oliver, Mary Ruefle, Ada Limon, and Richard Hugo, among others, will offer insight into poetic craft and lyrical explorations of poetry. By looking at poems and prose in relationship to each other, students will approach drafting and revision of their own work with new insights. Each week, participants will be challenged with generative writing prompts inspired by readings to create new works. Additionally, each writer will have the opportunity to present their new work at a 21c reading. Click here for more information and to register.
